Kosu Story
“Where did you get that outfit?”
After being asked this question countless times while running or swimming, I knew it was time to make my custom-made modest swimwear and activewear accessible to everyone through KOŞU!
Born and raised in the fashion capital of Cape Town, I grew up with a love of nature and the ocean, and an innate love of beautiful clothing. At KOŞU, I design each garment, which is lovingly crafted by my mother and our skilled team of seamstresses, whose combined experience spans over 50 years in the clothing industry.
As an avid runner and lifelong fitness enthusiast, I thrive on the exhilaration of outdoor activities, whether under the warm sun or cool rain. This passion is reflected in the name KOŞU (‘ko-shoe’),, which means ‘running’ in Turkish.
hold a PhD in Environmental Science and bring 20 years of experience as a project manager in the environmental and sustainability sector. My focus has always been on the critical nexus between the food system, environment, health, and well-being.
KOŞU is truly my passion project. For years, I dreamed of intertwining my love for sports with my commitment to environmental sustainability. In 2021, I took the leap to establish a business that serves the modest fashion and fitness community.
KOŞU was created with the following intentions: – Encourage more individuals to embrace active lifestyles by offering a diverse range of modest swimwear and activewear in various styles and sizes. – Motivate our community to pursue healthier choices and engage in regular physical activity. – Raise awareness about environmental sustainability, particularly for those who enjoy fitness activities outdoors. – Provide high-quality, affordable garments that are both durable and long-lasting. – Foster small business growth and create job opportunities within our community. We sincerely hope that KOŞU’s mission will contribute to the well-being of both our people and our planet!
